Early Years Foundation Stage

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework for learning, development and care was introduced was to all childcare providers in September 2008. The aim of the framework was to improve the standards of education from birth to 16 years.

The framework aims to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to learn through play to the best of their ability. It helps them to understand the world around them and to develop socially and emotionally.

All children should be able to play and learn in a fun environment with adults who understand, support and care about them. We want the children we care for to feel secure, and to develop the confidence for their next big step.

A Unique Child

This means that each child will be confident, self assured and resilient. We focus around development, keeping children safe, healthy and their well being.

Positive Child

To ensure that your child has a positive and secure relationship based on a loving relationship from their parents and /or key person. We strive to focus around parents as partners, support secure attachments and to develop friendships and feelings.

Enabling Environments

The environment is very important in extending children’s development and learning. We observe, plan and assess each child as an individual, support a child’s individual needs, to extend the learning environment and to access the wider community.

Learning and Development

This recognises that children develop at different rates and speeds, but all areas are inter-connected and equally important. We aim to develop the child’s play and exploration, the child’s active, critical, and creative learning. The Centre follows the 6 areas of learning,
